Everyone knows how difficult it is to return to a normal rhythm after a summer holiday, learn again, attend lectures and the like. We often start a new school year with summer moods, still relaxed, and don’t appreciate how quickly the semester will pass. Therefore, we are not able to look around, and we have to prepare for the exams, give the written papers written throughout the semester. After all, the first lectures seemed to be very recent! To prevent the same end-of-semester scenario from recurring (stress, lack of time, and fallen jobs), try to make it successful for you from the start of the semester. After all, a good start is half the job.
Before the start of the new school year, you should anticipate what you want to be at the end of the semester. If the last year of studies begins, your goal may be, for example, to read all the literature required for the bachelor’s work at the beginning of the second semester. Or do you want to get great ratings from all the subjects you studied in half a year? Any motivation is important. Remember that your goals must be realistic and truly achievable within one semester. So do not think that at the end of the semester it is realistic to have a full bachelor’s thesis written.
Meet the requirement for each course.
Take the first lectures. Already during the first lecture each lecturer is obliged to acquaint students with the requirements of the course, future payments, to provide a list of obligatory and recommended literature. So, in the first lecture, write down all future tasks and deadlines, teacher requirements and assessment system. This is how you will know what awaits you throughout the semester for the first week of study.
Plan your work. Make a note of the days in the calendar during which scheduled payments will be made or written assignments will be required. Calculate the amount of time you have until the end of each of these terms and plan your work accordingly. Define which jobs will take most of your time and bring them to the top of your priority tasks list. If you are a student of the last year, the final written work will undoubtedly be the most important, so for the first semester, you should foresee how much time will be spent on writing a bachelor’s thesis. If you need help or some questions at first, please contact the staff , who will help you to solve the problems arising from your bachelor’s thesis. You can fill out query right at the beginning of the semester – so our consultants will have enough time to help you.
Get started early. At the end of the semester, to avoid tension and uncompleted work, as soon as you learn about the mandatory tasks (report, report, PowerPoint presentation, review or similar), take them right away. Do not hesitate and quickly think about the topic for your report or foresee which book to review. Also, calculate the number of pages you need to read in the daily literature to prepare yourself for the exam.
Create or find the right learning space. Build a science-friendly home corner at home. It should have a comfortable table and chair, all the things you need for learning or writing. It should be a space that associates you with silence and science. If you do not have the opportunity to create such a space at home, find your favorite reading room in the university library or in the public city library.
Take part in lectures and seminars. If you want to get the most out of the semester of the school year, don’t just go to lectures and seminars. Being a lecture is not the same as participating in it. So go to the lecture or seminar ready, write down what the teacher is talking about, ask questions. By taking an active part in lectures and seminars, you will take more of the study process and less need to prepare for the exam.
Meet your supervisor on a regular basis.
If you want to write an excellent final thesis, consultation with your supervisor is essential. So the sooner you start to contact him, the better. If you have already written a course paper and are not writing a Bachelor’s Thesis, you are not going to change the topic or the work supervisor, then agree on a meeting in September and discuss future working terms, adjust the work plan. You will then be able to start reading the required literature, and for the second semester of the school year, you will thank yourself for taking care of the Bachelor’s work in the past. It is therefore advisable to consult the supervisor regularly even during the first semester of the school year. Doing so will definitely not disappoint you.
Stay free. When planning the works for the whole semester, remember to stay with the time and pleasant activities. After all, the whole essence of this planning is that it strives to balance work and leisure time properly so that in the last month of the semester you do not have to spend your time devoted to your work. So, at the very beginning of the study year, you can also include classes outside the institution of higher education in a successful semester plan. Gym, Dancing, Book Club, Language Courses – All this can be combined with science (if you plan ahead).
Don’t aim for an ideal result. If you really want the semester to pass smoothly, do all the important work, find a balance between study and leisure, do the job just fine. If you try to get the most out of every task, at the end of the semester you will still be busy with work, stressing and not knowing where all the time is gone. In addition, the ideal is likely to fail. So go one step after the other. Of course, every task can be done better, you will always find something to improve, but it is not worth spending too much time on it.
